The Dobbins’ purchased the North Shore properties as a family project in 1993. Everyone used their special expertise of scraping, painting, wall papering and good old-fashioned scrubbing, as the properties were readied for the first summer season. The three Dobbin children adopted the “little house” as their special abode where they entertained friends and pretended to be independent. The “big house” continued to be the adult domain where family and friends gathered to celebrate life’s events and South Haven festivals.In 2003, the Dobbin kids were grown so the days of the family laboring together on one project was over; however, Joan and Don fell in love with the South side of town and added one more “cottage” to their holdings. They discovered the tranquility and unique shade-lined neighborhoods which characterizes the South side. The Kid’s Corner on premier Monroe Blvd., provides elevated Lake Michigan viewing and unsurpassed sunsets.Today the Dobbins rent their properties to discriminating vacationers who celebrate family times, summer escapades and relaxed people watching.
